Zone matrix
Six zones, priced honestly
A Karnali route genuinely costs more to serve than a Valley one. We price it that way rather than averaging it into everyone else's rate and pretending distance is free.
| Zone | Covers | First kg | Each extra kg | Promise | 2 kg, incl. VAT |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Zone 1 | Kathmandu Valley | Rs 90 | Rs 35 | 1–1 days | Rs 147.61 |
| Zone 2 | Valley rim & central highway | Rs 130 | Rs 45 | 1–2 days | Rs 206.65 |
| Zone 3 | Terai & regional cities | Rs 170 | Rs 55 | 2–3 days | Rs 265.70 |
| Zone 4 | Hill districts | Rs 220 | Rs 70 | 3–4 days | Rs 342.45 |
| Zone 5 | Far west & high hills | Rs 290 | Rs 95 | 4–6 days | Rs 454.63 |
| Zone 6 | Karnali & remote | Rs 390 | Rs 130 | 6–9 days | Rs 614.04 |
Chargeable weight
The scale is only half the answer
Chargeable weight is the greater of what it weighs and what it displaces. Volumetric weight is length × width × height in centimetres, divided by 5000.
- Dense goods bill on actual weight
- A box of books weighs more than it displaces. You pay the scale figure.
- Bulky goods bill on volume
- A box of cushions displaces far more than it weighs. You pay the volumetric figure.
- The calculator shows both
- And tells you which one you are being charged on, so repacking decisions are informed.
Service multipliers
What each service level costs
The multiplier applies to base and weight only. Surcharges, insurance, COD handling and VAT are calculated the same way on every service.
| Multiplier | 2 kg to Pokhara | Best for | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 1× | Rs 206.65 | The right default for almost everything |
| Express | 1.6× | Rs 330.64 | Priority on the line-haul and the delivery run |
| Same day | 2.4× | Rs 495.96 | Kathmandu Valley only, booked before 11 am |
| Cargo | 0.85× | Rs 175.65 | Bulk and heavy, slower promise |
| Fragile | 1.35× | Rs 311.01 | Segregated handling and loading |
| Document | 0.7× | Rs 144.65 | Envelopes under 500 g |
Surcharges
Every extra charge, published
These are the only things that can be added to a quote. If it is not on this list, it is not on your invoice.
Fuel — 4.5%
Of the freight subtotal, reviewed monthly against the NOC diesel price and published before it applies.
Remote — Rs 150
Flat, per parcel, on districts flagged remote. Shown as its own line so you know exactly what the last leg costs.
Fragile — 12%
Of the freight subtotal, buying a segregated lane through the hub and last-on-first-off loading.
Insurance — 1.2%
Of declared value, minimum Rs 25. Optional, and strongly advised above Rs 5,000.
COD handling — 1.5%
Of the amount collected, minimum Rs 25. Never charged on money that was not collected.
VAT — 13%
Applied last, to the discounted subtotal. Applying it before the discount would overcharge you.
Order of operations
How the number is actually built
The sequence matters as much as the rates. This is the exact order the billing engine runs in.
- 1
Freight
Zone base rate for the first kilogram, plus each further whole kilogram at the zone per-kg rate.
- 2
Service
The multiplier is applied to freight only — never to surcharges, which would compound twice.
- 3
Surcharges
Fuel, remote, fragile, insurance and COD handling, each calculated off its own correct base.
- 4
Discount, then VAT
Contract discount comes off the subtotal, and 13% VAT is applied to what remains.
Worked example
One parcel, every line
A 2 kg COD parcel from Kathmandu to Kaski, Rs 3,000 to collect, no insurance. This is the whole calculation — nothing is held back for the invoice.
- Freight: Rs 130 + Rs 45
- Zone 2 base for the first kilogram, plus one additional kilogram at the zone rate.
- Fuel: Rs 7.88
- 4.5% of the Rs 175 freight subtotal.
- COD handling: Rs 45
- 1.5% of the Rs 3,000 being collected at the door.
- VAT: Rs 29.60 → total Rs 257.48
- 13% applied last. The merchant is credited Rs 2,742.52 on the ledger.
Coverage and price
Distance is not the whole story. Road is.
Jumla is not expensive because it is far. It is expensive because the last hundred kilometres take a day, and the vehicle comes back empty.
- Zone follows road, not kilometres
- A highway district three hundred kilometres away can be cheaper than a hill district eighty away.
- Remote is flagged, not hidden
- The surcharge is a published flat rate on a published list of districts.
- Backhaul is priced in
- A truck that returns empty costs twice as much per parcel. That is in the zone rate rather than a surprise.
Delivery promise
You are also buying a date
Every zone carries a promise window, set at booking and shown to your customer. Price and promise are two halves of the same quote.
- Working days, not calendar days
- Saturday is Nepal’s weekend, and the promise already accounts for it.
- Quoted before you commit
- The customer-facing date is generated from the zone, so nobody in your team has to guess.
- Express refunds the premium if late
- On express, missing the window refunds the difference to standard.
Contract rates
Volume should buy a real number
Around two hundred parcels a month is where a contract rate makes sense for both sides. What you get is a percentage off the subtotal, applied before VAT, on every parcel automatically.
- Discount before VAT
- Which is worth 13% more to you than a discount applied after it.
- A rate, not a rebate
- Applied on every quote in real time rather than credited back at quarter end.
- Reviewed against actual volume
- If your mix changes, the rate is revisited. It is not a number set once and forgotten.
Save money
Four things that genuinely lower your bill
We will tell you these even though they reduce our invoice, because a merchant who trusts the quote is still shipping with us next year.
- Pack tighter
- On bulky goods, volumetric weight is the whole bill. Removing void fill is the single biggest saving available.
- Round down, not up
- Weight is billed in whole kilograms. A parcel at 2.05 kg is billed as 3 — trimming 50 g saves a full band.
- Use standard by default
- Express costs 60% more and is one day faster in most zones. Reserve it for genuine deadlines.
- Convert repeat buyers to prepaid
- It removes the COD handling charge entirely and improves first-attempt success.
Insurance
What Rs 5,000 of free cover actually covers
Basic liability is included on every parcel. It is genuinely adequate for a Rs 2,000 order of clothing and genuinely inadequate for a laptop, and we would rather say that plainly.
- Declared value is the cap
- Under-declaring to save the 1.2% surcharge caps what you can claim. It is a false economy on a single loss.
- Fifteen working days to a decision
- In writing. An open-ended claims process is a way of saying no slowly.
- Exclusions published
- Cash, precious metals and undeclared electronics are not covered, and you are told before you book.
Before you book
Some things cannot be priced at all
The network will not carry certain categories at any price, and others need paperwork. Checking the list first is faster than having a consignment refused at your loading bay.
- Prohibited means prohibited
- No surcharge unlocks it. The list is short and it is enforced at collection.
- Restricted needs documents
- Some categories move with the right paperwork. We will tell you which and what is needed.
- Undeclared voids the whole consignment
- An undeclared item that causes a seizure voids cover for the legitimate parts too.
Billing
Charges settle against the same ledger as your COD
You do not pay us and then wait for us to pay you. Delivery charges are netted off collections in the weekly settlement, so most merchants never write us a cheque at all.
- Netted, not invoiced twice
- Collections minus charges. One transfer, one statement.
- Prepaid accounts get monthly invoicing
- For merchants without enough COD volume to net against.
- Every line traceable to a parcel
- Reconciling the invoice against your orders takes minutes, not an afternoon.
Bulk
Cargo is priced on a different curve
Above roughly eight kilograms the per-parcel base rate stops being fair, and cargo at 0.85× per kilogram takes over. The calculator will price both so you can see your own crossover point.
- Under 8 kg — parcel wins
- And it is a day faster. We will say so rather than upsell you.
- Over 8 kg — cargo wins
- And the gap widens quickly as the consignment gets heavier.
- Up to 1,000 kg
- Beyond that we quote a dedicated vehicle per job.
